For Area A, I had intended on using Splendor S888 (a very dark gray) until I found DMC Floche (310 black) in my stash. I used just 1 strand to allow more of the 24 Karats to show. Although black on black doesn’t show up very well. I loved learning about turning the corner so crisply!
And, I found some more light gray threads. So, instead of blending DMC Metallic floss (silver) with Splendor (S891), I used 3 strands of DMC floche (762) on four outer groups. I really liked the Snow (09) with that but I only had enough for 4 of the 5 groups. So, I used DMC floche (blanc) on the center group with Kreinik 1/16” ribbon (032).
And, all together:

I am using the colors Sue Reed called for. I like the colors you chose. This is the first time I have done a Mystery Project and I really enjoy it. Can’t wait for the next month to come.
Comment by Sharon March 2, 2010 @ 12:46 amHi Sharon, My first Mystery Project as well. I believe it was posted yesterday – they are very prompt – I didn’t get a chance to go look yesterday – going there next! Sue’s colors were good – I just HAD to use my stash!! I’m looking forward to it as well & thanks for your comment.
Comment by melitastitches4fun March 2, 2010 @ 9:47 amOh no, found an error. Area B, part 2, should be 3 x 3, not 2 x 2, with accentuate. I started March last night, and I am liking it. Abit Christmasy at this point, but it will be very interesting to see the other colors come into the design.
Comment by Sharon March 2, 2010 @ 11:39 amMaybe you could fill in the areas (1×1) by stitching a continental/half cross – because I doubt you can unstitch that much. Or perhaps you can stitch over the 2×2 in the same threads & it’ll be a more cushioned area. Whatever you decide, it’ll be uniquely yours (not an error)!!
Comment by melitastitches4fun March 2, 2010 @ 10:39 pmI found it before I stitched it, so no ripping out! I finished the first part of March and love it. Have to do the elongated cashmere tomorrow. It is fun to see it growing. Our Guild is doing this as a program piece and I saw 4 different color schemes today.
