Well, I got the scroll bars, attached the linen to the scroll bars, & started stitching for the sampler Tudor and Stuart Gold Master Class by Thistle Threads. Lesson 1 of an 18-month class. I had to get my magnifying glass out of the closet & attach it to my light stand so I can see b/c 32 count is soooo small. I got the top of the center flower done (6 full & 3 half queen stitches done). Not a difficult stitch – I’ve used it before – it’s called Rococo in The Needlepoint Book by Jo Ippolito Christensen. But it’ll take time getting used to using a magnifying glass as I work.

You’re right, it isn’t a difficult stitch, but the size of the stitches makes it very concentrated. I have found with the Floral Glove Needlecase that the magnifier makes it much easier, if you can get it in the right place.

Hi Rachel, I saw the Floral Glove when I was deciding about taking the Gold class. It is lovely & functional. Projects like these, you have to take your time & get it right.
Comment by melitastitches4fun May 17, 2010 @ 8:26 amOh my gosh! the size of the queen stitches for this project will be the life of me, using a magnifier helps a great deal but—— I haven’t done a single queen without unpicking. Kudos to you for accomplishing what you have.

I must say I haven’t had a chance to get back to it since that first evening. And, unstitching is tricky because you can mess up your threads so easily. So, I really want to find quiet time when I am rested & can focus. Good luck with yours!!
