Ort Box, Construction In Progress

Filed under: ANG Main Line Stitchers Chapter, Ort Box

Well,  I am finally constructing the Ort Box (subject of previous logs). A couple of others in my chapter finished it too. And, we plan on sending them to Seminar in CA. We need to send them out by Aug 22 in order to get there in time. Did you participate? I’m curious to find out how many get sent. I’m sure someone will get a photo (I’m not going to seminar) – it’ll be cool to see them!

This binding stitch is new for me & it took some getting used to but I finally got the hang of it. It shifts slightly and so it is important to keep the proper holes aligned. It took me hours today to get just the bottom attached!

I have already sent mine in, Melita, and I am going to the seminar. If we are permitted to take pictures, I plan to do so and will send it to you. I, too, had never used the binding stitch before and found it very time consuming but what great results! I was pleased with how it looked when completed. I did alter how the ultrasuede was attached–sewed the diagonal first and used sewing thread that matched the canvas. That step was the most difficult for me. I think this display should be awesome and am glad to be able to participate in it.

Glad you are going to see them. If you can’t get a personal photo, they are good at posting seminar pics online. Melita

Melita,

It looks great! Love the colors. I’m still contemplating on whether or not I’ll send two ort boxes to seminar. I’m not going and I fear they may get lost.

Your ort boxes were great. I see the black/silver /red one on your blog. I thought you had a couple of them. I had bought a lot of red, white, and blue threads prior to Philly’s seminar. So, I had to use them.
