This year’s ANG Stitch of the Month (SOTM) from ANG is Feuilles d’ananas, by Susan Hoekstra (Pineapple Leaves) – A Study in Values. I thought the darkest scarlet red was darker but it looks good with the dark pepper pot & Kreinik  (#12 not #8 as recommended). I enjoy seeing it slowly grow.

Love the red. You’re right, Section 2 does look darker than Section 1. Maybe it’s because of the dark Kreinik.

Could it appear darker because the inside block is surrounded by cream canvas and the second area is more concentrated coverage? I would guess, Melita, that you “tested” the shades using some technique such as a black and whit copy of the threads to see which thread was the darkest. The Kreinik is dark and together the two may be “darker”. Even so, I like it!

Yes, I was tempted to do in both colorways but so little time & so many projects yet to stitch!
