We’re only 4 months into the project & there is so much done already. This month’s stitch doesn’t come across as much as a heart as the diagram showed it to be – maybe because my thread is black & too thick. But, it still looks nice.

The project is coming along nicely. Glad I got March done before the end of the month!

For Area A, I had intended on using Splendor S888 (a very dark gray) until I found DMC Floche (310 black) in my stash. I used just 1 strand to allow more of the 24 Karats to show. Although black on black doesn’t show up very well.  I loved learning about turning the corner so crisply!

And, I found some more light gray threads. So, instead of blending DMC Metallic floss (silver) with Splendor (S891), I used 3 strands of DMC floche (762) on four outer groups.  I really liked the Snow (09) with that but I only had enough for 4 of the 5 groups. So, I used DMC floche (blanc) on the center group with Kreinik 1/16” ribbon (032).

And, all together:

I am laying a DMC Cotton Perle (310) in outer row to create a raised effect. It certainly isn’t dramatic & you can feel it more than you can see it.  I like the little bit of shimmer in the Vineyard & was hoping for more on the outer row.

It’s only the second piece that I’ve charted on the canvas.  Seemed confusing – until I was able to sit down & focus on it.  I used a purple pen – or disappearing ink from a fabric store & then a pencil once I was sure I had gotten it right.  The January stitch is working up quickly.  It was a rainy Sunday here.

I finished the January STOM.

It’s going to be mystery how this will turn out.  But, I’m using my stash!

Color Family A – Black: Vineyard Silk Shimmer (S-538), DMC Cotton Floche (310) [in place of Splendor Silk], 24 Karats (K06) [in place of a Krenik #12 Braid], Mill Hill Beads (00081).

Color Family B – Light Gray: Vineyard Silk Shimmer (S-539), Splendor (S891), DMC metallic floss (silver) combined with Splendor (S891) [in place of Silk Lame], Kreinik Fine #8 Braid (001) inserted into the center of Flair (F593) [a tip & trick shared by David McCaskill & I will try in place of a Kreinik #12 braid], DMC metallic floss (silver) [in place of Accentuate metallic].

Color Family C – Med Gray: Vineyard Silk Shimmer (S-536), Splendor (S1118), Rainbow Linen (R469) [in place of a Krenik #12 Braid], Petite Very Velvet (S-616) [in place of a Krenik #16 Braid]
