Thanks to my ANG Main Line Chapter member Patrick who is also President of the Embroidery Guild of America (EGA) Brandywine Chapter, our members have been invited to attend a talk by Doug Kreinik if we join EGA or Delaware Valley Historical Sampler Guild (DVHSG).
Today, I joined 8 EGA members at a Stitch ‘n Chat at Shirley H’s house. Among all her beautiful needlepoint, I recognized her piece, Roses, from seeing it a few years ago at the Rehoboth Needlepoint Exhibit. It won Best in Show! All the ladies were nice and welcoming.
They were all working on different projects which is fun to see. And, I got quite a bit done in the 4-hour session excluding our lunch break. This is the Toni Gerdes Bronze Purse that I started at Blue Bonnet in February. Today, I finished the bottom left corner including the dark brown laid stitches with the sparkly diagonal cross stitches. And, I finished the honey bronze diagonal wavy Smyrna pattern. I’ll add beads in the open spaces later.
On my way home from our vacation (with my husband) in Westerly, Rhode Island, I stopped in Stitch By Stitch in Larchmont, N.Y. It’s right off 95 and was a great point to stretch our legs. A nice group of ladies were sitting about stitching working on some fun canvases.
I picked up the booklet, Patchwork of Peace. Another piece that I want to get to eventually!
Great selection of threads, canvases, and supplies. Also, a well lit store with good space for classes. I’ve been watching for the right class, teacher, project, and date to align so I can join them. Some day!

Three Leaves with Margaret Kinsey was a class I took in 2015 at the ANG Seminar in Myrtle Beach. This was a beginner class in goldwork. I was very happy with how it turned out including the blackwork pattern for the background. Black on black wasn’t easy either! I realize that I never posted a picture of it framed. I just love the frame & my framer, Jim from Repenning Fine Arts in Audubon, NJ. I decided to splurge on this frame because it’ll be one of only 2 goldwork pieces I expect to complete.
Provence Pottery Class with Lois Kershner was a class I took in 2016 at the ANG Seminar in New Orleans. This was a class designed in part to learn about photo transfer. I was very happy with how it turned. Not full coverage was also something new for me! I realize that I never posted a picture of it framed. I love the frame & don’t tell my usual framer but Michael’s did a fine job framing with a frame from “off the shelf” (and quite a bit cheaper).
The photo is also in my album on the new ANG website. It was easy to upload photos there. I’m planning on adding photos from ANG classes, exhibits, Stitch of the Month, and pilot classes!

I had an opportunity to pilot the ANG Stitch of the Month for 2017, Kaleidoscope Squares-A Color Study of Shifting Patterns by Deborah Forney. I only had time to do the one small Panel 3 (a year ago) but wouldn’t reveal the October portion until it was available on ANG’s website. And, that is available on the updated ANG website (needlepoint.org). It’s an interesting study of color – if I had more time, I would do more of this SOTM. The nice thing about ANG’s SOTM is that it’ll always be available! I forget what threads I used. I must have notes somewhere but not sure where they are after reorganizing a few months ago!!
